Bygen have developed and built their novel thermal activation process and have demonstrated the efficiency of their technology in this facility. The pilot-plant combines a carbonisation/pyrolysis unit with an activation stage. The pilot plant is capable of processing 50 kg/hr of agricultural wastes or traditional feedstocks (coal, hardwood etc.). The process has been operated over a long period and has been successfully used with a wide range of raw materials (such as nutshells, wood, sugarcane residues, and plastics).
