HISTORY

Bygen was founded from technology developed within Dr. Philip Kwong's research group at the University of Adelaide in 2017. Dr. Kwong's work focused on the development of new, low-cost, methods of producing high-quality and sustainable activated carbon from agricultural and winery wastes. As a result of grant funding awarded to Dr. Kwong, a small-scale laboratory pyrolysis and activation unit was constructed and used to optimise the technology utilised by Bygen. He continues to focus on research related to material science, pollution control, and process engineering
